Roads to Liberation - Sub35 Day Retreat

    Aged 18 - 35 Retreat

Everyday life may be joyous, painful, plain sailing or just plain dull, but ultimately we’re usually left with a lingering sense of dissatisfaction. The Dharma offers us an alternative. By setting our compass to the values of beauty, truth and a fiery ‘goodness’, we can start to free ourselves and transform the world we live in.

Spend your bank holiday Monday with others in their twenties and early thirties, immersed in a retreat-like environment of meditation, more...

    Dynamic Revolution - Sangha Night

    Mitra Sangha Night

The continuation of a spiritual tradition requires that it is communicated down the generations. Within the Triratna Buddhist Community there is a lively and dynamic younger scene that perhaps some people are not aware of. This Tuesday at the beginning of our Mitra Month, Ksantikara from Adhisthana, who is The European young persons coordinator, will be telling us about this fantastic trend. Come along and find out what is going on and how to get involved!

    Men's Practice Mornings

    Sangha

As a way of deepening our meditation and shared practice, we are starting a practice morning for men in the Sangha.

There will be a chance to practice together with an emphasis on meditation and walking meditation. A simple morning of practice with no teaching input.

In addition we will be meeting up after the morning of meditation to have lunch together, either within the centre building or by going to a café. This will be an informal chance to meet up with more...

    Sangha Circle

    Sangha Circle

Our tradition places great emphasis on building Sangha (a friendly community of individuals practising the Dharma, the Buddha’s teachings, alongside each other). Possibly because of the experience of the pandemic we may be noticing how we are by nature social creatures: We need each other to know ourselves. This is a safe and open space in which to be with others to bring kind attention to how we relate to others and just as importantly, ourselves.

Please note: We are having internet troubles at the centre, so strongly encourage you to come in person in order to enjoy the ceremonies to their fullest.

Celebrate with us! Dave and Della are becoming mitras within our community this evening.

    Going Deeper in Meditation

    Going Deeper

The Buddha can represent the love and wisdom that is there in all of us:  our deepest potential, our true nature, veiled but never fully obscured, waiting for the conditions to allow it to shine forth, for the benefit of this world.

In this special session which will be part of our Buddha Day celebrations, we’ll be using the imagination to evoke the heart-mind of the Buddha, particularly through imagined bodily experience. With Dayajoti.

Beneath the Bodhi Tree - Buddha Day Festival

    Festival

2,565 years ago, a human named Gautama sat beneath a pipal tree on the banks of the Naranjara river and gained Enlightenment. He became the Buddha Shakyamuni, and the tree was thereafter known as the Bodhi Tree. Buddha Day is not merely a celebration of this event, but an opportunity for us to imaginatively be with the Buddha on this momentous occasion. We may not gain Enlightenment ourselves on Buddha Day (but then again, who knows?), but our practice will inevitably move us further more...
