    Sangha Meditation

This season we will explore the Just Sitting practice. This meditation corresponds to the aspect of receptivity within the Triratna system of practice. We will be looking at opening to our experience ‘as it is’. What can be discovered about the nature of mind and awareness and what does it mean to ‘simply be with what is’? How can we learn to look beyond the aspects of mind that inhibit this simple seeing?

The series will explore the theme through short more...

    Bristol Young Buddhists

    Aged 18 - 35 Introductory

This month we are looking at the Jataka Tales. Stories about the Buddha’s previous lives, human or animal! (or even sometimes plant). A magical, mythical set of nature-filled tales to inspire and entertain us. (Remember not to take everything literally!) Imagination is key to our growth and development as people, as well as to our happiness.

Explore with us what we can learn through story, myth and metaphor. Lots of space for discussion and reflection.

Trained yoga teacher Advayamati brings his experience of many years practice, leading workshops and retreats that combine shiatsu and energy work with teaching Buddhism and embodied mindfulness. This is a gentle yoga class, open to a range of more...

    Sangha Circle

    Sangha

Our tradition places great emphasis on building Sangha (a friendly community of individuals practising the Dharma, the Buddha’s teachings, alongside each other). Possibly because of the experience of the pandemic we may be noticing how we are by nature social creatures: We need each other to know ourselves. This is a safe and open space in which to be with others to bring kind attention to how we relate to others and just as importantly, ourselves.

The Dharma on the streets and in our hearts

‘The real work is becoming native in your heart….. ‘ – Gary Snyder

There has been a lot going on.  Some of us have been in Glasgow for COP26, have taken part in various Bristol protests, or have joined the Insulate Britain actions.   Our December meeting will be an opportunity to celebrate all that.  It will also offer a space to pause and ask ourselves : how have we more...

    Sangha Night

    Environment Sangha Sangha Night

    Heart-connected to the Future
The environmental crisis calls us to sense our connection with future beings and act with loving-kindness towards them – just as the Buddha asks us to do in the Metta Sutta. How do we make our interconnectedness with future beings feel vividly real, so that our metta flows naturally and strongly towards them, and they become a vital part of our practice of the first precept? With Dayajoti
