    Mindful Yoga

    Yoga

My name is Claire-Louise and I have been teaching Scaravelli inspired hatha yoga classes in Bristol since 2006.

    Claire-Louise

I see yoga as more of an art form than a form of exercise. If we can engage our curiosity whilst moving with the breath, then yoga  is like experimenting with the melody, tone, volume and pitch of the body.

In this way our practice can become more like a meditative dance where the breath, body, and mind are interconnected and we more...

    Bristol Young Buddhists

    Aged 18 - 35

    The three Lakshanas:

“Nothing is perfect, permanent, or personal.”

The Buddha observed that all conditioned existence has three marks: impermanence (Anitya), unsatisfactoriness (dukkha) and insubstantiality (annatta) or as a contemporary Buddhist teacher Ruth King put it: ” Nothing is perfect, permanent or personal.”

Reminding ourselves of these insights can be crucial as a daily practice and helping again and again to let go of more...

    Death Cafe

    Sangha

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.

Our objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.

A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

    Facilitated by Sthiramitra and Elodie.

    Mitra Ceremony - Sangha Night

    Sangha Sangha Night

Tonight we celebrate welcoming new mitras into the community: Thea, Paula, Hally and Stefan.

These ceremonies are an important and symbolically significant event for the sangha as well as the individuals who are becoming mitras. ‘Mitra’ means ‘friend’ and by becoming a mitra (a friend to the Triratna Buddhist Order) the individual is deepening their commitment to Buddhist practice within our sangha. Find out more here.
