Sangha Sangha Night

What is the sangha? The Individual and the Spiritual Community.

‘Going for Refuge’ to the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is the central act of Buddhist life. While we may feel that we have an idea of who the Buddha was and of the importance of his teaching, by reading books and attending meditation classes, the third ‘jewel’, that of the Sangha, really needs to be experienced for oneself. This should ideally involve active participation in the spiritual community, that “spiritual fellowship with one another which inspires and guides” in the words of the Dedication Ceremony. Our very own Sangha Night is the ideal place both to explore and practise what it means to be part of the spiritual community. On this six-week course, Ratnadhya, will guide us through some of the many facets of the Sangha Jewel, while exploring the relationship between the individual and the wider Buddhist community.

Turning The Wheel of life into meaning

Do you want to know more about what forces are at play in the world perpetuating suffering?

Do you want to know more about Karma and conditionality?

Do you want to find out where liberation is to be found?

During this short course we shall be opening out the rich imagery of the Wheel of Life to unpack some of the key teachings that address these questions.

It is said the image is like a mirror that reflects back without judgement our own life. It brings the possibility of creative informed choices in relation to how we respond to this complex and often overwhelming world. Remember this image is here to help free us. Come and find out more.

A mixture of teaching, reflection and discussion suitable for everyone who has completed an introductory course.

Led by Bhadra.
