You Are Not What You Think

How often do you find yourself in pain because you’re believing thoughts which you know aren’t true? Some thoughts are worth taking seriously, but some just cause us pain or conflict. What would life be like if we were free to decide which ones we believe and which ones we let go of?

We will be exploring one of the Buddha’s teachings on this topic which is known as the Honeyball Sutta which helps us understand the whole process of going from thoughts and feelings and end up believing ideas that cause ourselves and others pain. Join Vilasamuni for a talk, reflection and discussion around how to use this teaching to break free from this whole oppressive tendency.

Arrive from 9:45am for a 10am start.

Please do bring a vegetarian or vegan dish to share at lunchtime.

This event is by donation – we rely on your financial gifts to run these events, whilst also wanting to make sure they are accessible to all, regardless of income.

No need to book – just turn up on the day!

Vilasamuni is a young Order Member and friend of the Bristol Young Buddhists team. He has been deeply involved with the Oxford Sangha (community) but has recently moved a retreat centre to live and work full time in a busy community setting. The Team are delighted to have him with us!
