Solitary retreat
“My hut lies in the middle of a dense forest….” – or by Trenchard Street Carpark!
Satyalila has been doing solitary retreats for 30 years, in a variety of locations from countryside cabins and caravans, to solitaries at home in the little ‘Garret Hermitage’ flat she used to occupy behind the Bristol Beacon (previously the Colston Hall) by Trenchard Street Carpark. A few years ago she worked out that she’d spent more than a year of her life on solitary retreat – but in small chunks ranging from a long weekend to 4 weeks.
At Sangha night on 20 May, Satyalila will reflect on the practice of solitary retreats – and why she loves them – including poems, pictures (hopefully!) and perhaps even a song.
There will be time for questions and meditation.
