Hearing the Lion's Roar: Pali Canon
This event has already happened.
Hearing the Lion’s Roar: Three Pali Canon Days
For Order Members and Mitras
How do the foundational teachings of the Buddha shape our lives? We will explore our relationship to the Pali canon through reflection, personal talks, and devotional practice. We have received the Dharma jewel of the Pali canon from a lineage of 2,500 years of practitioners, and we can experience for ourselves how the teachings resonate within us today.
In the first day of this series, we will be looking at faith and the spiral path. Faith (also translated as confidence) is a positive emotion, a reasoned conviction, and a direct experience. The Buddha compares faith to an unshakable pillar with deep foundations; an imperturbable support in our Dharma lives. When we meet suffering, a response of faith is our entry-point into the spiral path towards liberation.
On this day we will explore for ourselves – what is the basis of our faith?
With Vimalavajri, Dharmalila, and Ella – a team with some experience in the Pali language and close readings of the texts.
Please let Vimalavajri know if you would like to come – that’s so that we know how many copies of written material we need. (Don’t worry if you get an auto reply when Vimalavajri away on holiday – she will pick it up on her return)
Please bring a veggie/vegan lunch to share
