The Heart’s Release

Just as if a mighty conch-blower were to sound out a proclamation, reaching into to all four quarters of the world; so by this liberation of the heart through loving-kindness nothing remains untouched

In our third and final Pali Canon day we will be exploring the Buddha’s teachings on metta.   Suffusing the entire world with its radiance, metta is a door to the deathless.

The day will run from 10am to 5pm, with shared lunch (please bring a veggie/vegan dish to share).

Please email vimalavajri@gmail.com if you intend to come along, as that will help us know how many handouts to prepare.

How do the foundational teachings of the Buddha shape our lives? We will explore our relationship to the Pali canon through reflection, personal talks, and devotional practice. We have received the Dharma jewel of the Pali canon from a lineage of 2,500 years of practitioners, and we can experience for ourselves how the teachings resonate within us today. We will look at the vital themes of these texts, and ways to enrich our understanding of the suttas.

With Vimalavajri, Dharmalila, and Ella – a team with some experience in the Pali language and close readings of the texts.
