My first gift is a lotus flower.
Do you understand?

– Sangharakshita, The Four Gifts

On Buddha Day this year we will be celebrating the Buddha’s life and enlightenment through the image of the lotus.

The lotus is a symbol of personal development, ultimately to the level of Buddhahood itself. Do we understand? Has meditation, or other forms of practice in our community, raised our level of consciousness?

There will be meditation and Dharma input, and we will create our own lotuses.
