Did Karma see me do that?
Friday 6th Dec 2024
Just as the ocean has one taste – the taste of salt – so too, the Buddha’s teaching has one taste, the taste of freedom.
We often think of ‘ethics’ as being about restricting our freedom and giving up things that we
enjoy.
How could a life based on Buddhist ethics allow us to be more free rather than less?
How do we spot when we’re unconsciously acting based on seeking approval or disapproval
from an authority (eg. ‘God’, parents, social groups, ‘society’)?
Karma is one of the mostly widely known but most badly misunderstood teachings in Buddhism.
Join Vilasamuni for an exploration of these questions, and clarifying what exactly the teaching of
karma is about.
Vilasamuni has been practicing Buddhism and meditation for about 15 years and was ordained
into the Triratna Buddhist order in 2021. He lives at Adhisthana, an international retreat centre in
Herefordshire.
