WEEK 1

In the first week of his series on ‘the Self’, Naravira will be looking at ‘What is the Self and how does it come into Being?’

ABOUT THE SERIES

Naravira will be leading 4 Sangha nights about the Buddhist view of the self.

In Buddhism the question of the Self and its true nature forms a key part in the understanding of Buddhist teaching, and the path to spiritual insight that leads to the end of suffering.

But what is the Self? We all seem to have one but maybe we have never deeply looked at its nature or possible origins.

The ‘anatta’ or ‘not-self’ doctrine in Buddhism is part of the Buddhas teaching about the ‘marks of existence’ or ‘characteristics of the nature of reality.’ But is the Buddha really saying there is not a Self? And if not, what is being said about this? And is it even a question that I really need to concern myself with?

He will be exploring this topic through a series of talks, discussions and meditations.
