Sangha Night
During this second half of the autumn we will be dedicating Sangha Night to a series of practice evenings.
At the end of last year we conducted a survey into what elements of the centre life people would like more of. One aspect that many people commented on was wanting to have more opportunities for collective practice.
These evenings will be a chance to come together for meditation, walking meditation and puja. There will also be longer tea breaks, giving more...

Bristol Young Buddhists
“In Buddhism there is a movement of wisdom upwards or downwards, and a movement of compassion outwards. Corresponding to this, there is in art an intensification or heightening of sensibility, as well as an extension or widening of sympathy.” – The Religion of Art, Sangharakshita
Buddhism has a rich history of art and imagery. Why is this significant and why do some Buddhists meditate on images?
Join us in exploring Buddhist artwork and opening to it more...

Going Deeper in Meditation
Suffering and the End of Suffering
All Buddhist traditions, in one way or another come back to the Truth of suffering and the end of suffering. This was the starting point of Buddha’s teaching, pointing to the truth of suffering and the discovery that freedom and joy are possible in the face of the sufferings of human life.
What does that mean to us in our meditation practice?
Two months (Oct and Nov sessions) of practice to take our meditation deeper into more...

Sangha Night
Radiant Heart Practice Evening:Join us this evening as we delve deeper into the qualities of Amitabha, the radiant red Buddha of love and compassion. Amitabha is associated with the setting sun, and with this changing light, especially at this time of year as the cooler darker nights surround us, comes a natural turning inwards. However his element of fire, is powerful and transformative, and his love and compassion ablaze with radiance.
The evening will be practice based more...

You Are Not What You Think - Retreat Day - Bristol Young Buddhists
You Are Not What You Think
How often do you find yourself in pain because you’re believing thoughts which you know aren’t true? Some thoughts are worth taking seriously, but some just cause us pain or conflict. What would life be like if we were free to decide which ones we believe and which ones we let go of?
We will be exploring one of the Buddha’s teachings on this topic which is known as the Honeyball Sutta which helps us understand the whole process of going more...

Padmasambhava Puja - at Sangha Night

Within Triratna, Padmasambhava has become a very popular figure with his connection to Buddhist Tantra and radical transformation of the our human depths in line with nature of the Dharma. On this Sangha Night we will be meditating together and then exploring the figure of Padmasambhava through ritual (verses of more...

texture of our thoughts and body sensations as they appear, especially how they
affect our relation to ourselves more...
