“We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh
In Buddhism, the delusion of separateness is considered to be the root of our discontent and our suffering, from which grow hate and greed. The Buddha taught four practices to dissolve this illusion of separateness, known as the Brahma Viharas or the Four Immeasurables. So far in our summer series we have looked at metta (loving kindness) and karuna (compassion). In August, we look at the third of these practices: mudita (sympathetic joy, or unselfish joy; joy in the good fortune of others). Join us as we learn about the mudita bhavana practice as an antidote to jealousy, envy, to boredom and indifference.
With guest teacher Taranita.
Open to all those aged 18-35 (newcomers welcome!). Arrive 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.
We can run these classes due to the generosity of those who have come along before. Please donate to help us keep sharing Buddhism and meditation with the next person who comes through the door.
