Newcomers
Our newcomers’ sessions are a great way to try out meditation and to find out about Buddhism for the first time. We teach two simple but effective meditation practices drawn from the Buddhist tradition – the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana (or cultivation of loving-kindness), as well as other ways to bring aliveness, contentment and meaning to your life.
Wear something comfortable, no need to bring anything – we provide cushions & chairs and will help you find a comfortable way to sit.
Drop-in Sessions
No need to book – just turn up. No experience needed – suitable for complete beginners. We don’t make a charge for these sessions but donations to help keep the Centre running are welcome and needed – guideline amounts suggested below.
- Tuesday and Thursday Lunchtime Meditation 1-2 pm (suggested donation £3 – £5)
- Tuesday evening 7.30 – 10 pm (suggested donation £5 – £10) Buddhist teachings and meditation for a meaningful life
- Monthly Saturday Morning meditation, 10 am – 1 pm on third Saturday of the month: Next dates are Jun 15, Jul 20 (suggested donation £8 – £12)
Introductory Courses
The best way to learn to meditate is through a course. We run meditation and Buddhism courses on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. A course will allow you to build your understanding week on week, & is also a good way to make new friends. No previous experience is needed for an intro course.
Courses are individually priced. Bookings are taken in advance with a deposit, and the outstanding amount collected on the first night of the course.
For courses & classes to follow-on from introductory courses or drop-in classes see Next Steps
